Hi Folks, dredging has started just below the main bridge. A lot of fishermen may be aware of it at this stage because of the severe discolouration of the water downstream. Looks like the only option is to head up river till seasons end. I will keep you posted on any changes and do feel free to see pictures i have posted on facebook. 1 Comment We are now taking bookings for the flytying sessions for the start of october. The sessions were geared primarily for club members, but if you have anyone who is interested, they are most welcome to join us. spread the word! You may contact fergal @ 086/8565263 or email bandonangling.association@gmail.com Notice to all members: The lower parts of the river will undergo some electro fishing in some of the shallow pools. Ecofact are the company that are carrying out the survey for approx 3 days. This is part of the flood relief programme and of course the scheduled dredging of the river. We will keep you updated on the progress. Hi to all you fishermen out there eagerly awaiting water levels to rise on the bandon. After a dismal july and august, last nights rainfall has finally brought a good flow back into the river again. I was at desert bridge this evening and i would estimate a rise of approx 1ft with a lot of slime and crap heading downwards. With more rain forecast for tomorrow, next week looks promising for all types of fishing. Hi Folks, 11yr old jack higgins from innishannon, who joined the club this year has landed his 1st salmon this week. The fish weighing 6lbs was caught on fly. Well done jack!! Yesterday IFI officers discovered a fish kill on the upper ballineen stretch of the bandon river. Hundreds of parr and a few mature salmon were wiped out just below the carbery milk products section of the river. It is estimated that approx 1 mile of the river has been effected. The matter is being investigated to pinpoint the source of the pollution. Hi To all, July has been a pretty uneventful month on the bandon with water levels critically low. However, the past 2 days have brought some consistant rainfall which has already made a stir on the salmon that were held up downstream. If you go to our facebook page, you will see some video footage of salmon going over the weir. This video was kindly posted by one of our members and it's a lovely sight to behold. There have been a few grilse caught lately and hopefully more to come over the next few days. Remember to let us know of any fish that has been caught and i will post it up for you. Enjoy August fishing!!! |
