Bandon Angling

Hi All, Just a brief update on Glendas tuition. The morning session went down a treat with approx 20 juniors and beginners attending. We started the session off with a good hour of theory in the adjacent town hall and Glenda and her assistant Dave o brien impressed even the youngest amongst us. After briefing everyone on the safety aspects of being on the river, we soon saw them marching down to the footbridge with rods in hand, life jackets donned and cool safety glasses. What followed from this was a dazzling spectacle of rods flicking, hands moving and a frenzy of activity which had all the hallmarks of enthusiastic youth. To sum it all up, Glenda has really brought Bandon Angling Association to a new level with two new junior girl members joining up.
The advanced session in the afternoon was slack on attendance, but there was at least 2 to 3 members benefitted by having 1 to 1 tuition. Please keep posted as we hope to have an outing on the river so that the youth can put their skills into practice by catching some fish. Regards Fergal

I saw the photo of Glenda Powells "demo" with bandon angling club on the echo sat evening and was surprised to notice there was no write up at all on the training for the youth that took place on the same day. I think that Bandon Angling Youth deserve the recognition for their enthusiasm. I was standing watching them from the bridge that day and thouht to myself,it's great to see young people out!!!I suggest you as a club should do your own article on a local level. Give me your comments...

Hello, firstly, congratulations are in order to the fishing club for organizing a teaching session for beginners. It would be great to see more of this happening in our town. We have a great resource in the bandon river and with more time on our hands now that the celtic tiger is DEAD, lets cherish the simple things in life while we have them...

Magic photos, they really capture the professionalism of all involved on the day.
Pity I missed out this year, maybe 2011.
